Planned Giving Advisory Council of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra

Objective
Serve as ambassadors for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and provide counsel on ways to encourage patrons to consider financial support in the form of planned gifts.
Membership
- Membership is comprised of attorneys, accountants, trust officers, and financial advisors.
- Members are chosen by a Membership Committee composed of the Chairman of the Planned Giving Advisory Council, Chairman of the Theodore Thomas Society, Vice President for Development, and the Director of Planned Giving. The Membership Committee also selects the Chairman of the Planned Giving Advisory Council.
- Membership is for a period of three years. The term is renewable.
- The Membership Committee may from time to time designate as Emeritus Members individuals who have provided distinguished service to the Council and who have expressed an interest in continuing to support the Chicago Symphony Orchestra planned giving program as ambassadors and advisors without the expectation of regular participation in Council meetings and activities.
- The Chairmanship of the Planned Giving Advisory Council is for a period of two years, renewable.
- The Board of Trustees of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra ratifies membership.
Benefits
- Annually two social events in connection with music at Symphony Center.
- Each event includes a pre-concert dinner, with program, and a concert at Orchestra Hall. Each member may invite a guest.
- Listing of the Council’s membership from time to time in the CSO’s program guide and in the Annual Report of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association.
- Subscription to CSO publications.
- An invitation for two to all open rehearsals of the CSO and to performances of the Civic Orchestra.
- An invitation for two to a backstage tour of Orchestra Hall.
- Access to special ticketing arrangements for all concerts at Symphony Center and elsewhere in the United States and abroad.
- Invitations to tours, special concerts and galas sponsored by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association.
Activities of Membership
- Attend two meetings per year to learn about the CSO’s activities, programs and finances and to discuss ways to enhance the planned giving program of the CSO.
- Confer informally with advisors to donors contemplating planned gifts.
- Provide direction to Director of Planned Giving regarding topics and speakers for educational programs for CSO patrons, donors and prospective donors.
- Sponsor an annual seminar for planning professionals on aspects of charitable giving.
